This project began just as the COVID lockdown started. The primary objective was that the client wanted minimal updates that could be quickly achieved, to allow for her family to use the house as soon as possible. The design was done from SF, without stepping foot in the cabin until the installation took place. Through the use of FaceTime and Zoom, the client, house manager & contractor were able to work together with JL Interior Design, to achieve the client’s goals. Ultimately the photo shoot with Whitney Kamman, who is a delight to work with, was done without JL Interior Design present as well, again leveraging FaceTime. This home was published in Mountain Living, May/June 2022.

We photographed this project before all of the furniture pieces had been received so you’re only seeing a portion of this special home. Nestled on a beautiful mountainside of Healdsburg, this home is meant to offer the client an opportunity to hideaway from the stresses of day-to-day life.

There wasn’t too much that needed to be changed - we had the guest house and a few rooms painted, some amazing hand-painted wallpaper added to the main bedroom and shelving added in the pool house. The overall scope was primarily furniture throughout the main house and guest house; better utilization of the space in the pool house and some outdoor furniture on both the veranda and pool deck.

This project was a ground up construction project that began in Dec. 2017 and construction was completed in Dec. 2020 and photographed in May 2021. It was featured on the Cover of California Homes July/August 2021.

Furniture throughout the house and if you look closely, you’ll notice that the living room has a subtle texture to the walls where a wallpaper was used. A couple of years after these photos were taken the main bath was remodeled and more wallpaper added to a few rooms. JL Interior Design is delighted when clients want to continue work beyond the original scope, as time allows.

Originally a two-story, traditional, Marina style home that was completely gutted and rebuilt from the ground up to its current, four-story, open floor plan. The palette choice was minimal: warm wood floors, light stone and tile throughout, and steel wrapped fireplace and hood, along with custom steel balusters that cleanly finish into the floor. JL Interior Design was involved from the beginning of the project and worked collaboratively with the architecture team. JL selected the interior finishes, fixtures and equipment for the project.

Our Clients bought a major fixer-upper. When they moved in they knew they had to essentially gut the entire house, move some walls and add more space to the downstairs. We worked closely with the architect in selecting all of the finishes, fixtures and equipment. When it came time for furniture the Client asked us to help as well. Working on a budget is a reality for most people and thinking creatively helps deliver a beautiful product.
